Crew Contract

This crew contract is the cornerstone of our sailing trip together. It not only sets out the terms between the crew and the skipper, but also serves as an important guide for safe and pleasant interactions on board.

Onboard Cash Box

The board fund is set up on the first day, and each crew member (except the skipper) contributes an equal
share to it. The amount is entirely up to you. If you call at more ports or eat out often, the amount will naturally be higher. However, you can expect to spend about 200–300 € per week.
In the old seafaring tradition, the skipper is provided for as well, whether on board or ashore. The onboard fund is used for:

  • Meals
  • Port fees
  • Diesel
  • Local activities

Money-Saving Tips

  • With a debit or credit card (e.g., DKB), withdraw cash abroad without fees
  • Buy larger packages (e.g., cosmetics for the whole crew)
  • Alcohol from duty-free shops
  • Bus transfers or shared rides.
  • Shop for seasonal and regional products.
  • Cook your own meals.

Seasickness

In most cases, seasickness is harmless and goes away after a short period of adjustment. To make this period—and any symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, nausea, or headaches—easier to cope with, we recommend spending plenty of time in the fresh air, keeping yourself distracted, taking the helm, not setting sail on an empty stomach, and having a warm sweater handy on deck. A tip: Before setting sail, use an earplug (e.g., Oropax) in just one ear.
Severe seasickness with vomiting is rare but can be treated with medication. Please let your skipper know which medications you're taking.

Recipe Ideas

During our many sailing trips, we've tried out and cooked plenty of dishes on board. We've written down a few of our recipes for you so you can easily recreate them

Sustainability Guide

We, the team at sailwithus, take environmental protection, social responsibility, and exemplary behavior very seriously. It's important to us that you behave respectfully in your host country. Each and every one of us contributes to climate change through our lifestyle—whether that change is positive or negative is entirely up to you. That's why we'd like to encourage you:

If you've had little exposure to the topic of sustainability so far, use this holiday as your chance to learn about sustainable living and rethink your habits—for the better!

Day of Arrival

Once you arrive at the harbour, you'll probably meet up at a café and get to know each other a little better. (For a relaxing start to your sailing adventure—book your transfer now and arrive at your destination stress-free! 🚐 👉Click here ). You can also discuss the general route and set up the board cash fund. Before you can board the yacht, the skipper must take charge of it and give it a thorough check. During this time, the rest of the crew will have the chance to go shopping or bring any delivered groceries to the yacht. Once on board, you'll familiarize yourselves with the yacht and the safety equipment, sign the crew contract, and stow your luggage and supplies. The crew and the skipper decide together on cabin assignments. Solo travellers share a cabin with someone of the same gender. The first night is usually spent in the harbour so that you can set off on your sailing adventure the next day.

Life on Board

Every day is unique—you'll explore cities and ancient cultural sites or discover unspoiled nature off the beaten path. As a general rule, the crew decides on the route, daily destinations, and excursions together with the skipper. Of course, your safety is always our top priority. You'll typically spend about 3 to 6 hours on the water. You'll spend the night anchored in a small cove or immerse yourselves in the Mediterranean bustle of a lively little harbour town (more info on the cruise itinerary).
The crew usually consists of a diverse mix of people with varying levels of experience. Our experienced skippers ensure your safety and, if you'd like, will teach you the basics of sailing. You're welcome to ask our skippers as many questions as you'd like and/or brush up on the basics of sailing beforehand. What's life like on board? Here you'll find all the information you need about daily life on a sailboat

Your meals are also up to you: You can choose to cook on board in a fully equipped kitchen or go to a local restaurant. All crew members are equally responsible for shared tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, or grocery shopping. There will be a chore list to ensure responsibilities are divided fairly.
