Sailing from Elba

A sailing holiday around Elba takes you to the green island world of Tuscany. We usually start directly in Portoferraio or on the nearby mainland (Piombino/Scarlino). Elba, the third largest island in Italy, offers an incredible variety of coastlines: from steep cliffs in the west to gentle sandy beaches in the south. The sailing area is ideal for pleasure sailors. The winds are usually pleasant in summer and the distances between the islands of the archipelago (such as Capraia or Giglio) are easily manageable. During the day we anchor in bays such as Fetovaia or Biodola for a swim, in the evening we explore historic harbor towns and enjoy Italian cuisine.

An excursion to the island of Capraia is like travelling back in time: There is only one small town here, lots of untouched nature and a wild rocky coastline that is perfect for snorkeling. If you're lucky (and the weather is right), you might even sail as far as Corsica (Bastia) or the shallow prison island of Pianosa with its Caribbean waters. On Elba itself, places such as Marciana Marina or Porto Azzurro are highlights for eating ice cream and enjoying "seeing and being seen". Culinary delights include Tuscan specialties and the famous Aleatico wine.
