There is a small supermarket on the harbor grounds that delivers groceries to the yacht free of charge (minimum purchase: approx. 30€). There are baked goods, some groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh juice and drinks.

Are there bed linen, pillows and towels on board?

Yes, you will be provided with bed linen and a towel.

But bring another towel yourself.

A beach towel is not necessary - you jump straight into the sea.

Do I need a passport or identity card?

That depends on the area.

An identity card is sufficient in most districts.

A passport is required for overseas destinations (Thailand, Caribbean, Seychelles, etc.).

Recommendation: Check current information with the Federal Foreign Office.

Is sustainable travel possible?

Yes.

Some sailing destinations can be reached by train, ferry or long-distance bus.

What happens after I book my cruise?

After your booking, you will receive further information by email at regular intervals. This includes tips on packing, advice on meal planning, etc.

About a week before the start of the trip, we create a Whatsapp group where you can get to know each other as a crew and the skipper.

Approx. 5 days before the start of the cruise you will receive the final arrival information including a harbor plan and berth.

When can I leave?

The yacht returns to the port of departure on Friday between 3 and 6 pm.

The last night is spent on the yacht.

The yacht is left on Saturday around 9 am.

Departure within this time frame is possible.

When does the crew meet and can I come outside the recommended arrival time?

The crew usually meets between 2 and 4 p.m. in the marina or a nearby café.

From around 5 p.m., the skipper can board the yacht and carry out the handover. Meanwhile, the crew goes shopping.

Late arrival is possible in exceptional cases by arrangement.

Saturday is an organization day - sailing usually takes place on Sunday after the safety briefing.

Which insurance policies are useful?

Insurance is not mandatory, but recommended:

- Travel cancellation insurance

- International health insurance

Which piece of luggage is best?

A sports bag or hiking rucksack is best.

Please do not bring a hard-shell suitcase - there is no storage space for it and it is always in the way.

Will I get to know my fellow sailors before departure?

Yes, a WhatsApp group will be created in the week before your trip. You can discuss travel and organization there.

Booking

Are children allowed on the sailing trip?

Yes, there are special family sailing trips for children and teenagers (2-17 years).

Are there trips on catamarans?

Yes, both Youngline and Forever Young offer catamarans. Also bookable via Private Yacht.

Can I also book the flight via sailwithus?

No, we do not arrange flights, but we do provide support in the search.

Can I book a cabin for myself?

It is generally possible to book a single cabin. This is associated with additional costs (90% of double the cruise price).

Do I book my sailing trip or my journey first?

We recommend that you look for a suitable journey at the same time (especially flights). Once you have found a good combination, you can make a reservation for a few days on request. We will be happy to assist you with your flight search.

Does the travel insurance have to be taken out at the time of booking or can it be taken out later?

No. Travel cancellation insurance can be taken out with HanseMerkur up to 30 days before the start of the trip.

How do I register for a sailing trip?

Once you have decided on a sailing trip, you send us a binding booking request online. We will check it and then send you the trip confirmation with invoice. As soon as you have sent a booking request, you are initially scheduled for the trip.

How many families are on a yacht on average?

Depending on yacht size 2-4 families.

How much does the cruise cost and what costs will I incur on site?

You can find the cruise prices in the booking form. There is an additional €250-350 on board for food, harbor fees, diesel, etc. The skipper is always catered for.

Is a reservation possible?

Yes. Dates starting in 6 weeks or later: 1-3 days can be reserved. 3 months before: up to 1 week. High season: 1-2 days. Reservation by phone or e-mail.

Is it possible to register alone?

Yes, you can also book on your own. Our trips can be booked for solo travelers, couples or smaller groups. We will be happy to support you.

Is there a minimum number of participants for the trips?

- Mediterranean: 4 people

- Families: 5 people

- Overseas: 6 people

What about data protection?

Our data protection guidelines comply with the GDPR. No disclosure to third parties. Use exclusively for internal purposes and travel processing.

What conditions should I observe when canceling?

You can cancel at any time. Cancellation fees can be found in the terms and conditions.

What is the carefree package?

Instead of paying a high deposit, you pay a lower fixed amount and completely exclude your excess in the event of damage. So you can enjoy maximum relaxation without worrying about unexpected costs (excluding extras booked separately)

e.g. when sailing along:

  • Monohull: Only 39 €/person fixed amount (instead of 100 € deposit/person)
  • Catamaran/training: Only 65 €/person fixed amount (instead of 200 € deposit/person)

What is the on-board cash box?

The on-board fund is the group fund for food, harbor fees, fuel, excursions, etc. Each crew member pays in approx. 200-300 € at the beginning of the trip, depending on the area. A crew member manages the money. At the end, any remaining money is paid back. Tip: "Splitwise" app.

According to sailor's custom, the skipper's meals are also paid for from the on-board cash box.

What payment options are available to me?

Payment of the cruise fee is possible by bank transfer.

When do I have to pay for my trip? / Terms of payment

Deposit immediately, final payment 4 weeks before departure. Usual: 25% deposit.

When is a trip canceled or does not take place?

If the minimum number of participants is not reached up to 28 days before the start of the tour (according to ARB).

When is the cruise secured?

- Mediterranean Sea: 4 persons

- Family trips / sailing catamaran: 5 persons

- Overseas: 5-6 persons

When will I receive my travel documents?

On the 42nd day, on the 21st day and in the week before your cruise by e-mail.

Will I be informed if a trip is canceled?

Yes, at the latest 28 days before the start of the cruise if the minimum number of participants has not been reached.

On Board

Are passengers issued with a nautical mileage certificate at the end?

Yes, the skipper can enter miles in the mileage book or issue an official certificate.

Are there flotillas?

Each crew plans its route individually. As there are often several yachts sailing at the same time, it is possible to form flotillas. Skippers coordinate this on site.

Are there showers and toilets on board?

Yes, every yacht has at least two bathrooms with toilet, washbasin and shower. The facilities are functional and rather cramped. As water is a scarce commodity, it is not possible to take long showers every day. Water tanks can be refilled in harbors and there are usually comfortable sanitary facilities.

Can I smoke on board?

Smoking is only permitted on deck. Ideally on the leeward side so that the smoke does not drift towards other guests. Consideration is important.

Can I take my dog on board with me?

Yes, basically possible. Cleaning costs of 200-300 € are incurred. Some charter companies require dog shoes to protect the deck. Please let them know in advance.

Do I need previous knowledge for the SKS cruise?

Yes, you need the SBF-See and about 300 nautical miles of experience.

Do I need to have previous knowledge of yoga?

No. Suitable for beginners and advanced students. The units are adapted.

Do you actually sail at night?

We usually only sail during the day. However, a trip at sunrise can be arranged with the skipper.

Does the skipper have sufficient qualifications?

Yes, all skippers have the necessary sailing and radio licenses and meet internal selection criteria.

How many people can take part in a private cruise?

Depending on the size of the yacht, 6-12 berths (3-6 cabins). A place should be planned for the skipper. Recommended: 5-11 persons.

How often are we on land?

That depends on your wishes. The route is planned flexibly. Some nights are spent in bays (accessible by dinghy), others in harbors. You can visit restaurants, go shopping or explore places.

How often do you actually disembark?

That depends on your wishes. You decide the route together (depending on the weather). You can spend the night self-sufficiently in bays or call at harbors more frequently. You can also go ashore in bays at any time with the dinghy.

I have an allergy or food intolerance, will I be taken into account?

Yes, everyone can decide for themselves what food they bring or eat. It makes sense to discuss this with the group in advance. We generally shop and cook together.

I'm vegan, is that a problem?

No. The crew decide for themselves what to cook and take things into consideration.

Is it actually a problem that I can't cook?

No. You can take on other tasks, e.g. shopping or washing up.

Is it necessary to cater for the skipper?

Yes, the skipper is catered for by the crew on board and in the restaurant.

Is it possible to bring my own underwater equipment?

Snorkeling equipment can be brought along. There is no space for diving or kite equipment - please arrange this in advance.

Is the consumption of alcohol permitted on board?

Not while sailing, as full attention is required. Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted at anchor or in the harbor.

Is the sailing route already determined beforehand?

No. The route is flexible and depends on wind, weather and your wishes. The ratio of swimming to land activities can be adjusted individually. If several boats are traveling together, they can sail together if everyone agrees.

Is the yacht equipped with sufficient safety equipment?

Yes, life jackets, distress signals, lifebelts, light buoys. Some yachts also have a life raft and EPIRB.

Is there WLAN on board and what about the cell phone connection?

No WLAN on board as standard. Usually good cell phone connection near the coast, reception may be lacking in remote bays. WLAN can be booked as an option on some cruises.

Is there a SUP on board?

Extras such as barbecue or SUP can be booked additionally. An overview is available in the master data or on request.

Is there electricity or power sockets on board?

230V sockets only work in port with shore power, usually in the saloon or possibly in cabins.

A 12V socket at the chart table always works.

Some yachts also have 12V USB ports, but these are not reliable.

If you use devices such as CPAP, you should bring a long 12V cable.

What does a normal sailing day look like?

Start usually around 10 am after breakfast. After clearing the boat, you sail for 2-3 hours into a beautiful bay for a swim stop. Then another 2-3 hours to the next bay or a harbor. The daily schedule is flexible - days without sailing or shore excursions are also possible.

What does the workload on board look like?

All crew members actively help out. On the first day there is a briefing, getting to know each other and shopping. During the trip, everyone should be prepared to help with sailing maneuvers, steering, cleaning, shopping, cooking and mooring and casting off. Working together is usually a lot of fun.

What equipment do I need for the yoga trip?

Comfortable clothing and your own yoga equipment if necessary.

What happens if repairs to the yacht become necessary during the sailing trip?

Local charter companies are quickly on site in an emergency. As the boats are very busy, there may be waiting times, which can be used for excursions or beach time.

Cooking is easy with a stove, oven and fridge. Cooking is done in small teams that take turns. The crew decides on meals together. You can go shopping or visit restaurants in harbors. Skippers are happy to give restaurant tips.

What is sailwithus skipper training?

An intensive training cruise during which you will learn how to handle a yacht safely. Focus on maneuvering, navigation, meteorology and safety.

What is the crew composition in my desired week?

Depending on the booking situation. You can ask at any time what the current age/gender distribution is.
