Plastic Oceans is committed to raising awareness of the problem of plastic pollution and promoting sustainable communities in Europe. Founded as a non-profit organization in the USA, the foundation's global goal is to end plastic pollution and promote sustainable habitats worldwide. They act at a local level through the sub-organizations Plastic Oceans Canada, Plastic Oceans Chile, Plastic Oceans Europe and Plastic Oceans Mexico. The organization aims to implement global change and pursues this through the four pillars of education, activism, advocacy and science.
In Europe, they are pursuing the following three projects in particular: Blue Communitieres, Blue Schools and Rethink.Refill. These programs cover a wide range of environmental issues that we face today. Rethink.Refill, for example, is an educational program that addresses youth responsibility, prevents plastic pollution and provides clean drinking water to schools around the world. Among other things, the project provides water refill stations and reusable bottles at schools.
